WhatsApp to Launch Custom Chat Themes: Instagram-Inspired Feature for iOS and Android

WhatsApp is set to introduce custom chat themes, allowing users to personalize their messaging experience. This new feature, inspired by Instagram, will soon be available for both iOS and Android devices.

WhatsApp to Introduce Custom Chat Themes Inspired by Instagram

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to personalize their chat themes, similar to Instagram's chat customization options. This feature, currently in development, is expected to roll out soon for both iOS and Android users. The upcoming update aims to enhance the messaging experience by giving users more control over the appearance of their chats, allowing them to select custom colors for chat bubbles and backgrounds.

As reported by WABetainfo, this feature was first spotted in the iOS 24.11.10.70 WhatsApp beta and later in the Android 2.24.17.19 WhatsApp beta. Screenshots suggest that WhatsApp is testing an option where users can choose a default chat theme. While a preview of the Chat Themes feature is not yet available, it is believed that there will be at least 10 different themes at launch.

Unlike other Meta-owned apps such as Instagram and Messenger, WhatsApp has traditionally offered limited customization, allowing users only to change the chat background while keeping text bubble colors consistent. With this new update, the wallpaper and text bubble colors will change based on the selected chat theme, providing a more cohesive and personalized look.

Furthermore, users will reportedly be able to override these settings on a per-chat basis, granting them the flexibility to customize the colors of chat bubbles and backgrounds individually for each conversation.

By introducing this feature, WhatsApp aims to enhance the user experience by offering more personalization options, aligning with the customization capabilities available in other popular messaging apps. Although the feature is still under development, the latest Android 2.24.17.19 beta update from the Google Play Store indicates that WhatsApp is committed to bringing this customization feature to both Android and iOS users.
